Nikki the Perfect Little Guest

Dedicated to my very dear friend Cheryl for being awesome!
Cheryl loves Chihuahuas, and I've come across several in a relatively short period of time; it's rather a long story...

But to TRY to be as brief as possible...
The first one, was this one from the Mutt Strutt:

which, since then, I've learned A LOT about "tea-cup" chihuahuas... ... but this is not for right here, right now...

But at *that* time I had said that my next dog was going to be a chihuahua...
the moral of that story being, "be careful what you wish for"

A month later... there was a different Chihuahua, THIS one here, named NIKKI, running around willie-nillie in the busy road leading to the road to our house...


We, and other cars stopped... and it took a lot of doing, but finally she was captured, and WE took her home. I ended up carrying her the whole way... It was the only time I brought home ANY cat or dog, that there was NO problems or "transition" everyone liked everyone... she was the perfect new addition- however, of course, SHE WAS NOT OURS!

It took the rest of that day, night, and the next morning to figure out who the owner was... and she was five hours away, and would not be home another four days, and while we did not know her we said we'd keep her and care for her, for her, because we refused to take her back to the previous place "of care" because the man who had been "looking after her", had literally "gone fishing" instead of helping to look for her.

When Nikki's owner came to get her, we offered to take care of Nikki, anytime she might need us to and she deemed us Nikki's aunt and uncle... and well, the last day of our vacation we got a text, asking if we could take Nikki for a MONTH!

Well, we said yes, even though we were scheduled to get our OWN Chihuahua at the same time- both right after our vacation.

Because after Nikki's first visit... where she is photographed here... I began HUGE Chihuahua research, and truly decided that a Chihuahua is what I did want, and since I couldn't keep Nikki... well, yeah, so a search began.

Anyway,

photographed here, is Nikki, who will likely become a regular guest, and we've come to know her quite well already...

and sometime in the nearish future, I'll upload, a photo of our own new Chihuahua, who is an apple-head, rather than the deer-head that Nikki is, and nearly all black.


His name is Pepino, Italian or Spanish for Pepper!
