Accepting Applications for Administrator Positions at #Unframed-Nature is now: OPEN!
Introduction
Before you apply, please know that volunteering for a large and active group here on dA, such as #Unframed-Nature is a real and true commitment, which will take up some of your time on at least a weekly basis, maybe more.
#Unframed-Nature is special in many ways, but from an Administrative view point, it is very special because we have always had good luck with our current Administrators, most of which have been with the Group, as Administrators, for a very long time.
We are a very friendly Team, both with each other, and with the Members, as well. This means when we do have to decline works, we do give a reason, and we are friendly about it. It means, that upon occasion if there is something that we disagree about within the Admin. Team, we disagree nic

New Community Projects CVHi all,
Just letting you know that there is a new Community Volunteer for Community Projects: me.
Before anyone panics or rejoices too much, let me quickly add that I am not leaving the photomanipulation galleries. I will be handling both galleries for the time being.
What is a Community Project?
Glad you asked! A community project is a project or contest that is designed by community members (as opposed to being an official dA project or contest) to promote a positive, supportive environment here on deviantART. Community projects build community spirit and help all of us grow as artists and as individuals. They have specific goals and often span many galleries and media to bring people together.
Some examples that I am aware of include:
#Arts-and-Health - A project that serves as a platform for people who live with illness to tell their stories of challenges and triumphs through creating art with a message#GimmeFeedback - A pr
Photography Troubleshooting: Understanding ISOHeader created by ~TouchedD
=TheGalleryOfEve asked recently about SLR settings and in particular, a troubleshooting article focusing on ISO. So here it is! Hopefully this article will help you to understand ISO better, whether a beginner or not.
What Is ISO?
ISO within traditional photography, was an indication of how sensitive a film was to light. Within digital photography it measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. Basically, the lower the number then the less your camera is sensitive to light. Higher ISO numbers are generally used in dark situations to get faster shutter speeds but this can often mean that your shots are noisier. ISO 100 is the most widely used and gives crisp shots with little to no grain. Shooting in automatic means that the camera will select the appropriate ISO for the situations that you are facing, and work out the rest for you to reduce noise as much possible. But it's when you start getting more technical and
The New Street Photographer's ManifestoFebruary 7, 2013/by $techgnotic
Street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it the “decisive moment”— the captured instant when all the photograph’s elements come together to tell a story in a way a text narrative of thousands of words could never begin to. It is what hooks people, both practitioners and advocate-devotees, on the art form. It is uniquely completely immersive in life— step out into the streets— in which the moment of artistic epiphany can never be guessed at until it suddenly happens. When it is properly mastered, it is as pure as the dawn of each new day, as true as the living organism of a teeming street scene catching a breath as one.
It's no easy task to pull a book together for publication and "The New Street Pho
Meet the Fractal Community #6Hey guyz
Welcome to the sixth edition of Meet the Fractal community !
In few words, Meet the Fractal Community is be a bi-monthly interview with an artist of our beloved fractal community.
This week let's have a closer look to ~depaz!
First of all, please introduce yourself to the community.
Okay. I'm depaz and I'm 27, I'm currently studying and living in Valladolid, Spain. I am a reserved type of guy. I love photography, messing around with computers, and chilling out listening to music, specially downtempo music .
Tell me how to call you? Do you go by your Name or an artistic pseudonym?
I prefer to be called by my pseudonym. My pseudonym comes from my surname "de Pablos", so I feel pretty identified with it.
How did you discover deviantART ?
I've always been interested in art. Long time ago, I used to play with old versions of Photoshop to make awful designs and photomanipulations, a
The Enduring Enigma of CollageFebruary 21, 2013/by $techgnotic
Collage is one of those art forms that immediately sets off heated debate about our most fundamental ideas and visceral feelings about the very essence of art itself.
Turn of the century troublemakers Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso began enhancing their paintings with glued on bits of cut out fabric and other materials, thus neatly blurring the line between the art categories of painting and sculpture. They shifted the emphasis or “meaning” of their painted images beyond an attempted interpretation of the painted “text” to thinking about the artists’ “process” – something wholly separate from the paintings themselves.
And with that a whole new Rubic’s Cube of basic questions about art was opened up:
Is an assemblage of “found” junk

I couldn't find the english version of it so here is the translation of our message why this is so important for us, in English (You can find the German version through the link above):
According to the constitution of Afghanistan women have the right to participate in public life.
But the reality is that Afghan women, who have the courage to participate in public life, are exposed to nasty slurs, violent assaults and even death threats and assassinations. In just the past few years, dozens of Afghan women who have ventured into the public, got murdered. Among them were journalists, politicians, women's rights activists, parliamentarians, teachers, school directors and singers.

Acts of Random Kindness!Hi there, fellow deviants!
In this small introductory journal, I'd like to explain an idea for a project I'm expanding upon.
So stay put, it's going to be an interesting read, I promise!
What are Acts of Random Kindness?
Acts of Random Projects, also known as ARKs is a project that was initially started by `MzzAzn and builds upon the idea of "paying it forward".
Basically, each month you commit yourself to doing at least one or two (or more) random acts of kindness to spread positivity throughout the community.
This can be done by leaving small positive comments on pieces that haven't been commented on yet, by making art for someone, by giving points to donate towards someone's goal and in a various amount of other ways. The main idea is simply to do something constructive to make another person smile. It doesn't need to be a big gesture, it's the sentiment behind it that counts.
Why should I participate?

Art for Trees - project:iconspringtree-1plz::iconspringtree-2plz::iconspringtree-3plz::iconspringtree-4plz::iconspringtree-4pl5:
"When is the best time to plant a tree? Twenty years ago. The second best time? Today."
- Chinese proverb
Trees are important, valuable and necessary to our very existence. It's not too hard to believe that, without trees we humans would not exist on this beautiful planet. Trees are the largest and longest living organisms on earth. To grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above. By means of photosynthesis the leaves combine the water and salts with carbon dioxide from the air to produce the nutrients which feed the tree. In this process, as well as wood, trees create many chemicals, seeds and fruit of great utility to man. Trees also remove carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, from

Major Contest Announcement- Cute Rodents!EDIT: See MORE added prizes below!![]()
"Major", in case anyone is wondering, is simply a big contest versus a mini contest, just decided to make it sound more fancy or whatever this time around.Anyway, there was a poll/discussion done quite some time ago to decide what kind of contest to do...the most popular idea was the butterfly contest and that was a HUGE success, and turned out very nicely. But I decided to use all of the ideas, so the next is simply called Cute Rodents with the theme of course being pictures of the cutest rodents you can come up with!
Rodents are a broad family of animals, some examples being:Mice
Rats
Guinea Pigs
Squirrels
Beavers
That's only a small list of examples, so remember any rodent will do! Just submit what you think is your best quality work featuring any cute rodent you want. We are looking for major "d'awww" factor, in other words.
