Autumn Festival & Other Treats!

Welcome to this Autumn Festival and Variety Show!  It’s full of LOTS of different Nature and yet there’s so much more to see!  

To me, Autumn is a most magnificent time of year, full of the magic of transformation. It can be sensed through sight, sounds and even through the subtleties of smells.  There’s a special change in the quality of the air, the way it feels, and seems to know that things are winding inward.  It’s all is evident through the Nature that surrounds us, if we are lucky enough to be in a region that experiences it. With the areas of the world that do have Autumn, it is usually the shortest season of the year [along with Spring] and therefore it is extra special since it is so short and therefore must be relished that much more so.  If I don’t stop and take the time to enjoy it, it will be here and gone, and suddenly it’s a long cold, damp Winter ahead.

It’s a time to notice the unique harvests of this time of year, it’s time to share them among our friends and neighbours. It’s a time to make time to slow down a bit, and  begin that introspection of the majority of the year that’s past, or whatever thoughts that have been waiting for attention.

Within the BIGGER season of Autumn, is the season or time of Halloween which quite a few people celebrate, and sometimes in different ways.  Sometimes, it overlaps quite a bit with Nature and the harvests.  But for the most part, these days quite a few families celebrate with decorations, carving pumpkins, having their children dress up in costumes and going trick-or-treating.  It’s all symbolic in historic roots. But in these modern ways, these Halloween traditions seem mostly for a lot of fun with friends and family.   

I’ve been ‘ing and collecting and sorting for a long time now, and very eager to plan for a BIG news festival such as this! I wanted it to be at least somewhat reflective of this time of year, however... despite all the amazing things from so many friends, I know that I still was not able to include all the wonderful things from every friend... I would keep seeing more awesomeness later, here and there, and my collections would grow, and THEN I’d see work from new people that was also phenomenal, and I’d try to include some of them, too, and... let’s just say, there’s just a lot of really wonderful things out there!   

Please know that a lot of this of this Festival Article is for FUN! It’s meant to be.
But note the section on cats, for example. I just have to mention, given that I do a lot of volunteer work at the County Animal Shelter.  This being said, I would just feel odd and remiss if I did NOT say, that I do not condone adopting cats right ON or right before Halloween, much like buying a pet bunny for Easter.  These are usually NOT well-thought out adoptions.  

I am not featuring cats here to plant that kind of thinking to adopt at Halloween time, because some people will do that, when they didn’t truly want a cat, and then it’s just another neglected animal, when it was probably neglected to begin with.
  
And also, I just want to clarify, that I definitely love ALL kinds of cats and their colours! The reason I chose black, white and orange, was simply for the fun of choosing thematic colours.   My own menagerie of cats testify to my LOVE of all cat types and colours!

Historically speaking, cats have always been associated with this time of year, and especially with Halloween. However, I am NOT one who believes that they are actually some evil creature. There are a lot of misconceptions about cats.  Sure, they are funny, sneaky, complex, but mostly usually sweet. The truth is, there is a continuum among domestic cats, where many can be extremely VERY nice, while there are others that are NOT nearly as nice,  [to put it nicely ] and then everything in between!  

So enough about that!
