Brief Summary:
Enter a Deviation that would present a visual sense of peace, serenity, tranquility, calming, and harmony.  Then perhaps it would have the ability to bring a feeling of overall well-being to the other senses, as well.  In other words, it would make one feel relaxed and at ease.

Explanation:
In today’s world, many of us have serious major stressors which we have been dealing with quite heavily.
Focusing on peaceful places in our physical surroundings, might be a nice  pick-me-up, a great reminder of what is still good, happy, and something positive to put our mind toward, especially during times of sadness and tragedy, both personal and societal.

It may be, that this has been done before.  
But can there really be too much of something like this?
Something of anything that has to do with peace?

Thoughts / Ideas:
In my thinking, I envision entries that could be of various types of special scenery of land and/or waterscapes of places which would likely be of special places to you, the entrants. So, this could be personal- a place, where you’ve gone or go often, to just get away- the forest, the mountains, the park, the lake, your backyard.  If it’s a random, first-time viewed scene, and it had an overwhelming peaceful impact over you, this is of course, fitting, as well.  So, I’d love to see your places of peace!

Contest Begins Monday February 1st, 2010

Suggestion: I would not enter, if you already know you won’t be around dA the week of voting. If you think you will be, please DO enter! You MUST VOTE to be eligible to win!
Results Announced Sometime Between March 24-25th.

Rules:

One Entry per person.
No gore, violence, mature content- ANY questions or concerns about entries, NOTE me.
Your entry does NOT have to be a brand new deviation. But it should be January 1, 2009 and newer. It should already be uploaded into your gallery with that date, or newer.
After much thought, and discussion with many, this Contest is open to: Photography, Traditional and Digital Art/Painting, Photo-Manipulation, and Visual Poetry [Words on top of  an image. Use own photo or May use stock photo. Please cite resource. If using a stock photo, hopefully the poem or prose is referring to a more personal place... ]

NOTE: For Traditional and Digital, consider drawing or painting a personal place that you have witnessed that was meaningful to you and brought you feelings of peace. For Photo-manipulations using stock, consider using your own Photo stock for the main location scene, to express that personal feeling of peace that it brought you.  
Also, I don’t have separate categories for prizes, though. They will all be together. The CONCEPT of the contest has MUCH to do with this contest, rather than just the medium itself.  That way more could participate together, which is why I want to try to bring more artists together under one theme and concept - the artistic expression of a PLACE of PEACE!  
We’ll see how it goes this time.

Voting:

Here is a basic guideline:  Voting should be based 50% on quality of artistic craft, and 50% on how well you think the artist executed the concept of: A PLACE of PEACE.

Don’t be quick. Set aside a time for this voting. Each artistic work is very important to each artist, and means something to them- let it sink in a bit, for their sake.
I cannot actually ensure that each voter will truly vote by this guideline. It is no such strict guideline.  With the invitation of some mixed art forms, some may not feel experienced enough to actually judge quality of certain art forms. As is so often in art, this is highly subjective. This is why the CONCEPT is such a big focus of this contest. And because art is so subjective, the CONCEPT is going to play quite a role in the voting. But keep quality in mind, nevertheless!

I am hosting the contest, and will not take part in voting,
I will only step in if there is some sort of unforeseen problem, and there is some kind of decision that needs to be made or help that is needed.

Artist’s username will be used for voting.

When the time comes to vote, simply send to me in a NOTE, the username of the artistic work you like and the number of points depending on what place you feel it earns.

You will vote for a 1st place, a 2nd place, and a 3rd place.
1st place earns the most points and so on.

1st place will get 5pts
2nd place will get 3pts
3rd place will get 1pt

Special Challenge:  THE HAITI CONNECTION

“Eighty for Haiti”

For each Entry meeting requirements submitted, I, Tea, of TeaPhotography Pledge to Donate .10cents on the US dollar. It is my hope that this will add MORE incentive for artists to join this contest, with 80 entries as the goal! With this in mind, I can begin saving $8.00 starting now, with hope and belief that this contest WILL meet this goal and perhaps SURPASS 80 entries, which would also be fine with me!

In my journal, in the “Passion for Compassion” there are a number of ways to donate to organizations who are assisting Haiti as swiftly as possible. I will choose one, at the end of the contest. I hope there are as many entries as possible, because I am going to save up.

If anyone ELSE likes this idea, and would like to pledge with me, on this, .10 cent on the US dollar, just NOTE me, and I’ll add you to this section, and we can double, triple, or more...
