Zorra is a doll of a Calico Cat! She is petite and sweet, but she is feisty as can be if she is being bothered by another of our cats- scrappy little thing, I just adore all of her qualities!
In my experience, it happens often enough, that when cats are adopted, they are returned and with reasons such as, "They hid, too much"... "They wouldn't come out and play"... "They wouldn't eat"... "They didn't get along with my other pets" etc. ...
Cats are interesting and fascinating creatures, and one reason why they are so interesting and fascinating, is because they are all so unique and different from each other, when it comes to their personalities.
A lot of times, cats are not "insta-pets"... in other words, they aren't necessarily super friendly and affectionate when they are first adopted, and a lot of people don't realize that cats need a lot of time and patience to adapt to certain new situations.
If they are given the time and the patience to do this, it is very much well worth it.
Of all of our cats, which we always have worked hard with, so they could get along together, if we were going to give out a PRIZE to the one that was "The Most Changed"... it would be Zorra.
I made an instant connection with her, at one of the places I volunteered with back in California, but when I adopted her and took her home, we had a lot of work to do to get her physically healthy... for one thing, she had patches of hair missing and a chronic case of recurring ear mites.
She literally spent the whole first year and a half, hiding under a bed, rarely coming out.
These days, she is the most social of all cats... she even loves to come out when we have people over! She was so great with my young nieces when they visited this past Summer, we couldn't believe that!
She is a wonderful lap cat, and she honestly couldn't be MORE affectionate.
This is a 180 degree turn around, from when we first adopted her...
And we love seeing her so comfortable, confident, and happy!
If you give a pet, the time they need, you really might be surprised by the rewards!
"You've come a long way to feeling and being at home, Zorra, and we are so happy to have you with us!"

Zorra, is actually the hardest of all of my cats to photograph, but I adore the ones I do have.

What a sweet photo! And Zorra is really a fascinating beauty!
You are right, each cat has its own personality (just like humans ) and if you have patience and intuition you can turn a feral into a lap cat. I once had such a cat, or better: I made her mine!. I often saw her strolling through our garden. For a while she disappeared behind the house as soon as I came into the garden. Each day I placed a littel bowl with cat food on our terrace, she came to feed when nobody was around. After some months I could touch her and she showed me that she wanted me to be present during the birth of her kitten. This was really a great event for me! (Afterwards we could catch her for a sterilization.)
Zora is adorable and I like those qualities too lol, because I can get a little feisty if I'm being bothered as well
Lovely captures of your very cute kitty and it's so great she has come so far...but then that is a testament to your love for her, and creating a safe, loving home for her too!
