Dedicated to my supportive guy friends:
who I thank specifically for their recent involvements and active interests in recent times for their support of The Shelter Project
Every bit, means a whole lot!
"The Key of Compassion" is just the first of many in this style I intend to work on.
I have had a penchant for antique keys for many years by now! I collect them by searching in off beat antique stores and some other odd resources. They tend to range greatly in their own style, size, origin, age, price and worth. It's very interesting to me!
I decided to take my interest in old keys, and begin to "bead" them into viable pieces of wearable jewelry.
This is my first one, and I love it!!
It's beaded and wire-wrapped on my medium grade wire, (if you need exact, I can tell you dimensions- I have three strengths/widths).
The beads are glass, polymer clay, and tiny seed beeds.
The keys in the background are some from a collection I got from Christmas including a gigantic one inside the tea cup, that you can't see well, and are not included.
Certain keys, like the ones in the background, will likely never be used, because it would make such jewelry too expensive--
But no worries, I know where to go for awesome antique keys in the right price range to make affordable jewerly.
(I've already made a 2nd one, about this same size, but a different style key completely, all different shades of green beads, but most of them semi-precious stones, so it would be more expensive than this one because of that, and it is currently on a green cord to match the green beads... )
I can't wait to make more! As always ALL jewelry goes to The Shelter Project, just like any print or greeting card.

It's important to know this NOW, as I may NOT be able to do individual thank-you's for 's, or in case I cannot respond to each comment, either. Thanks for understanding.
