Description

Dedicated to several very special friends:
:iconhiaamir: :iconadardurden: :icontwins72: :icongothgirl145: :iconmaska13:
for their BIRTHDAYS from this past week, May 25th, 25th, 26th, 26th, & 27th, respectively!
:party: :party: :party: :party: :party:

I've known each of them quite a long time on dA, and each are truly wonderful as friends :heart: AND as artists! :w00t:
I am happy and proud to know them, and I wish them well in their coming new year. :la:

~~~:rose:
The above photo is extremely special to me... though it was taken in April, it was particularly done for Katie Rose's  SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY, which was just this past May 26th!
:iconcatlaplz:
She still looks the same as she did in April. :XD:
Katie Rose, was my Grandma Jean's cat for about the first ten years. And then we have had her for approximately six, going on seven now. :aww:
A year or so before we ended up with her, I had promised my Grandma, that if she ever needed me to take Katie for any reason, that I would, even though at the time I lived 15 hours away by car. Well, the day came that my Grandma was having to move to her first Assisted Care facility, and that particular one did not allow pets. :hmm:
So, we drove down there, stayed a while to help out, and mainly was there to take Katie back with us, which honestly was super sad for my Grandma, but she was glad it me, and not any other situation, since it couldn't be her.
My Grandma has passed away two years ago by now, but we've continued to have Katie, who in our clan, was the 3rd of our own cats we had taken in.
On May 26th, of 1998, a little dark brown and gold bulls-eye marked tabby MANX was born... and was either taken to, or born into the hands of Pima County Animal Control, in Tucson, Arizona. She wasn't the nicest kitten, and found herself on "death row" near the end of the Summer!
My Grandparents, looking for cats, as they often did-- had my Grandpa looking for a cat at this facility and finding this little ornery kitten scheduled for euthanasia.
He fell in love with her, got the paperwork going... and eventually got "Katie Rose" home, and they BOTH loved her and spoiled her ever since.
They, along with precious few others, understood her very clear set of rules, because they were willing to take the time to get to know her, and find out that her precious uniqueness, was simply the wonderful little package that made her so awesome. There was nothing wrong with her at all. Just a very different cat, from "normal different" and that made her all the more fun and funny.
I remember her ever since she was a quirky little kitten, visiting my grandparents, and she'd finally come out from under the little organ to see me after everyone else would leave the room. :XD:
She's been such a joy to us, ever since since the long, but bitter-sweet drive home taking her home with us. She traveled so well in the car. :nod:
She's been our little "hall monitor" yelling at all the younger cats as they're running up and down the hallway. Just hilarious, in so many ways. :nod:
She was diagnosed with Kidney failure this past January of 2014. Past the beginning stages, already, too. :(
But, luckily, so far, her kidney food has been all we've needed to maintain her levels, in fact, her retake test even showed some improved numbers, and usually the food only maintains, and does not actually do any reversing.
There are other treatments, too, after the food, but we are actually not there, which considering the stage she is at, is quite good. So we keep going with the food as long as she is okay on it. :nod:
Kidney disease is one very common disease for both cats and dogs when they get older-
my first dog, I had as an adult, passed away from this.
So though it is not a big surprise to eventually get this particular disease if you live long enough, when getting near the end of it, it's really quite awful. :hmm:
So we simply take each and every day, and love on her, let her get in our laps, likes she's always liked, listen to her talk, which she has always loved to do, (chattering our ears off!) and answer her the best we can... ;) ... and be grateful for this truly amazing feline creature who we've been able to know for SIXTEEN, years... (and counting... ;) )
By the way, she's lived in Arizona, California, and Oregon!
That's one West Coast Kitteh! :D
