Stronger by TeaPhotography Stronger by TeaPhotography
Thank you to ALL who love and protect animals, for your help and work is exceptionally meaningful, believe me...
And I DO mean beyond those who have helped me with The Shelter Project...
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This is Howard, at The South Coast Humane Society who is available for adoption, and whose photo will be in the newspapers' "Adopt-A-Pet" and on PETFINDER.COM and on FB, very soon!

Howard, is an exceptionally loving and affectionate "tuxedo" cat, who lost a front leg when a car ran over him, but is recovering nicely from the surgery, and really is getting around quite nicely! :aww:

In fact, he has been dubbed "The Escape Artist" because, despite the loss of one front leg, he is quite adept at opening and escaping his enclosure!

Good for you, Howard!

We hope you find a loving home who will love you regardless of three legs, because you are awesome!

EDIT: ADOPTED!

What Doesn't Kill You

by Kelly Clarkson

.....You think you got the best of me
Think you had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller....

Howard, you and your life, are an inspiration to us all!
I can only hope you know that you are already loved!

[ :note: NOTE: Thank you, in advance, for any :+fav:'s I may receive for this image. :thanks: :aww: :rose: I am honoured and grateful that anyone would think well enough to :+fav: it. So thank you from the bottom of my heart  . I understand if you don't have time to comment, but thank you for any kind comments, too. :aww:
It's important to know this NOW, as I may NOT be able to do individual thank-you's for :+fav:'s, or in case I cannot respond to each comment, either. Thanks for understanding. :thanks:
And, if you just came to view, I appreciate that, too.

I think it is better than the alternative, yes.

I think many cats and dogs do adapt pretty well on 3 legs. :D

Thanks much, John!

Yes, he does have striking eyes...
but I think he's going to be okay... after all, he can escape his enclosure using one front leg.

Seems very adaptable. :D

I just love the 'different' cats.. We've had a few 3-legged ones this year and they are just amazing. They always bounce back so quickly after their surgery. If that were a person they'd probably sit around feeling bad for themselves, but cats don't know how to feel bad for themselves no matter what happens.

I do think it would take much longer for most people to adjust physically as well as mentally to the loss of a limb, compared to animals recovering from the same thing.

I don't think that for animals, there isn't the stigma associated with such a thing as there is for humans, you know? This is also what makes it a lot harder for humans.

Animals just know survival and adaptation, and while humans do have these instincts, too, their brains and minds are a lot more complex with a lot more "hang-ups"...

And it's understandable considering human society.

A few of our cats have "disabilities" for which they don't seem to mentally notice, and they adapt quite well, getting along as good as any other cat...

our one-eyed cat is a super example of this. :aww:

Anyway, thanks so much for your comment. :D

He is a gorgeous cat! Cats usually adapt well to losing a limb so I hope he gets stronger everyday. I also hope he finds his forever home soon! This song is so appropriate for Howard too! :iconheartcatplz:

Lovely photo and story.
This reminds of a person I know who has a three legged cat too, a tuxedo cat as well. The cat lost his leg when a dog attacked him.
But he is living his life just as he used to, such a happy and strong cat. He even can jump really high.
It's amazing what animals can go through and still be so loving and happy.

They are resilient, yes, especially under the right circumstances.
Thanks for sharing your story.

The previous cat I shared here [not Winston, the feral], the "apple-faced" Siamese from the humane society, also had surgery on a back leg from a dog attack, but the leg was saved... she's doing well, but does limp.

Thank you Enalla!
