Sha-Sha's Winter Wonderland by TeaPhotography Sha-Sha's Winter Wonderland by TeaPhotography
See images from this year's Holiday Greeting Cards to Help Animals in Need HERE: [link]

This is dedicated to the wonderful Group :iconourarea51: and the two administrators who run it,
:icondanaanderson: and :iconlirulin-yirth: who are also good friends of mine, who have always been very supportive of me and The Shelter Project, too. :aww:
They are compassionate enough people they will take Sha-Sha even with her one eye. :)

I appreciate both their group as well as Lin and Dana for all they have done, and wish them wonderful Holidays and a great new year, ahead! :rose:

Sha-Sha is short for Seizonsha which is Japanese for "Survivor" and THAT, she is! ;)

This is an effort to do 2 things:

This will round out a much nicer collection of Holiday Pet images to be available for Holiday Animal Greeting Cards for NEXT Year...
as I had NO idea I would get what orders I DID get, this year, and I felt unprepared with the images I had, both in the area of holiday animals and regular holiday images to be honest!
[even if it was nice, that the images I had were wanted anyway... :aww: ]

And in a GREATER effort to help support The South Coast Humane Society through The Shelter Project by having a nicer variety in general. :aww:

We got Sha-Sha about 6 months after Jikan: [link] , who to this day, is probably still her best buddy.
She was our 2nd cat, at about 3 months old, just over 4 years now. But we had mistakenly judged all cats by Jikan back then, and it was a bad mistake, for Sha-Sha was and still is complete terror in comparison to sweet and easy-to-train Jikan!

But we are thankful we got her, because given her challenging demeanor which is half very crazy and also half very sweet, [at alternating times] she had one eye when we got her, which no one knew how she got before she was picked up into the system... and tho' the rescue facility had just done surgery before we adopted her, she had trouble with it about a full year, before we had to have it re-done by our vet... and even then, it got incredibly infected from THAT surgery... but a 2nd surgery is what was needed, and finally, that part of her face is completely healthy and she is fine...

... she actually sees better with her ONE EYE, which we call her "magic eye", than the other cats seem to! We don't understand it, but NOTHING gets past her at all, AND she is in your business and with you no matter what it is you are doing at ALL times, in front of the line ahead of the other cats!

And she absolutely adores toys, tears into them! This cat is a mess in a lot of ways, and we are not sure a lot of other people would have taken her to begin with, as we had been the first people to even look at her at the time, but even so, we wonder if she would have been returned given the outrageousness of some of the antics she does put us through...
:faint:
We often say, that she is like 10 cats all on her own, but she is one BIG adventure in one tiny 6 pound feisty cat, and we love her, and can't believe she's the same cat when she's being ultra sweet!

More of Sha-Sha.

Winter Wonderland
Ann Blyth & Perry Como

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown

He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

this story is like my Chloe, she is CRAZY one second, the next sweet as sugar! I have 3 cats all are rescues off the street, the worst case I dealt with is Kurt, he was and extreme case of malnourishment, abuse and dehydration. He was almost a year old and weighed a tint 2 1/2 pounds, he was sick, very sick...full of worms and urine, my husband and I brought him home where he cringed when we went near him, I bathed him and he found out what a loving touch was, it broke my heart to see him so desperate for love. I brought him to the vet the next day, the vet was doubtful of his survival, he De-wormed him, gave him his first set of shots and sent me home with some free food to help him rehydrate properly and gain some weight, he booked a tentative appointment for 4 weeks later but told me not to hold my breath. Well that 4 weeks came and he was brand new, he weighed in at 9 1/2 lbs and no longer had patches of fur missing or worms, or the stink of urine, the vet was in tears... he was neutered that day as well and we got him the next day...we still have him today..he is now 5.

I had a cat many years ago that lost her eye when she was a
kitten from a very bad infection...She could see very well with just one eye..:)..She
was an indoor cat 97% of the time but she liked to go outside sometimes and one day
she went outside and never came back..:(..She was the 3 years old..

Oh, I'm so glad you do like this, Tina!'s

Oh that's too bad about yours who had lost her eye due to infection! :hmm: They do think hers was lost when super little and likely due to trying to get food, or due to human cruelty. But who knows? Can't know for sure!

They do seem to see so well with their one eye, though, don't they! :D

Gosh, I'm so sorry yours didn't come back after she was let out... :(

I am so fearful of that very thing, that is why ours are indoor kitties 100% of the time, although the one with one eye is the only one who like to sneak out when she can but we go after her and bring her in!

There is just too much that can happen to her out there... feral cats who beat each other up as it is, raccoons, cars, mean people...really I'd rather not think about it.

Oh my god she is such a beauty, her coat is amazing, lovely bushy tail and amazing colour in her eye. By the way I love your work if I haven't told you before, (I properly have lol, but I want to say it again as it is true. :) ) Please keep it up. :D To be honest I get bored with people who take professional pictures, but yours are different (in an amazing way). I can never get bored of your work. :)

Your comment is just suuuper nice... I'm not even truly sure how to reply. :)
About Sha-Sha, I had a couple similar shots to this one, but it was BECAUSE of her tail that we chose this one, so I'm glad you noticed! :)

You have been very nice to me before about my work, yes, and I so do appreciate the encouragement, believe me!
I recall everyone who is... and you should know it keeps me going and motivated.

But what all you said here, was very... extra special, or something.

Maybe it's cause I'm not such a "professional professional" but I don't know if I an explain that. :D

I don't care so much about making it big, about money, or awards, -- I just want to be able to be good enough to be able to find ways to use my work to help animals or even people, or situations that are in need. :aww:

And I care about being a nice person, too.

These are things that matter the most to me with what I do, and who I am.

The fact you are motivated about doing this for a good cause makes you even more impressive. This is why I support your work because you ARE DIFFERENT, you don't care about making it big or money. If I can I will let people know on DA about your work as it is amazing.

By the way Sha- Sha's tail is amazing, so how could I not notice it? :P Keep up this fab and amazing work. :D

What a beautiful girl. She reminds me very much of my father's Pricilla, now deceased who was also a rescue, but one we found outside ourselves, declawed and starving in the snow. She was at time the sweetest kitty but could suddenly turn around and be a spaz for no apparent reason. She liked to run down the hallway to my bedroom and stick her paws under my door, and when I opened it, run and wait for it to close again.

But oh no, about Priscilla! That's too bad that she had been both declawed AND living outside at the same time, in the SNOW at that! :hmm:
Good thing you all were there to rescue her! Thank you for doing that! :thanks:
I love the story you shared about her being sweet but the example you shared of how she could be spazzy!
Those make great stories!

She was about a pound and a half when we found her, we had quite the doubts that she would survive being so starved. With her long fur she had burrs, and twigs, and knots everywhere. And she was one of those cats that on humid summer days, she'd even get knots behind her ears from them moving. For the three years we had her, we had to shave her down every summer, or else she'd be miserable.
She was a sweet spazz :) I miss seeing those big white snowshoes waving at me when I was getting dressed every morning!
