Ready to Go by TeaPhotography Ready to Go by TeaPhotography
 This is another cat, an adult cat, living at the local shelter where I volunteer. At the time, she was living in "Playroom 2" of which there are four of these playrooms; 3-5 cats will live in each of the playrooms, while there will be one cat per cage, of course, in all of the areas where there are the cages.

Sometimes, a playroom is converted into all kittens for a while when there is a HUGE influx of kittens, and then there will be 10-13 kittens or so in a playroom for an indefinite amount of time.

There are areas in the back part of the shelter where kittens are also housed. The Playrooms are up at the very front right where the public enters, because they look the nicest. :)

I believe she and a few other cats, who were living here a long time, ended up being rescued by other rescue centers [either San Francisco or the state of Oregon] because once in a while areas that are "better off" come in and will take a few that have not been looked at, when we're too crowded. :hmm:
But at least this happens at times.

 I greatly thank everyone :thanks::thanks: immensely who has shown and continues to show their support, on the first photo image of the kitten that I uploaded, [link] which was the FIRST SUBMITTED UPLOAD to announce the NEW PROJECT that is now and finally currently officially underway, which involves ANY and ALL of my previous, current and future domestic animal photos that I submit to share here on dA, with EVERYONE, whether having dA accounts or not.

:new:PLEASE NOTE: I am NOW donating portion proceeds of any of my art- prints of photos & visual poetry [ & my own professional hand-crafted greeting cards coming this Fall of 2010] depicting domestic animals, sold DIRECTLY through TEA PHOTOGRAPHY to the local shelters.
For MORE INFO. READ in the Cat-Dog Sub-Gallery...

 I have two wonderful friends who have helped kick off this project with me! :w00t:

One is not on dA, but the other IS a dA member, and I hope to give credit there, where credit is due... :aww:
But I am deeply grateful to the BOTH of them. :rose:

[NOTE: I just wanted to say, in advance, how especially grateful for anyone's :+fav: I may receive for this image. :thanks::aww::rose: I am honoured that you would enjoy or think well enough of my work here, to :+fav: it. So I thank you :thanks: profusely, and from the bottom of my heart  . And because I do realize time constraints all too well, I understand, if you are unable to also leave a comment. :aww: However, whichever you may do, [or even both! :omg: ] I genuinely appreciate it beyond measure. I need you to know this now, in case I'm not capable of doing individual thank-you's for :+fav:'s, which I've not been capable, or in case I cannot respond to each comment, either. Thanks for understanding. :thanks:
 And even if you just came to view! :eyes: I am also very HAPPY :D for this! :w00t: ]

Oh Philippe, :D
Thank you ever so kindly for helping me to kick it off!'s

I will keep at this, for as long as I possibly can. :w00t:

At the very least, I will always work in volunteering with my time, and if there is donation money, then that is great to have that extra to help with those great needs as well.

I appreciate such a comment.

Mostly, I worked on right eye center focus, and made use of some good lighting, supported that indoor lighting with ISO so that I didn't have to ruin anything with post processing. There's barely a contrast, is all! I really liked the purity of this one, personally speaking. :aww:
And thanks again. :)

This photo is superb, Tea!

I didn't know that you were working in such a shelter, I wish that there were some where I live but we have only the SPA and they are not doing a great job at all.

You are so generous, you are awesome!

Thank you very much, Jocelyne!

I'm sorry, you didn't know that?
Since March of 2009.
Volunteer job.

I thought you did know because of my other cat photos.

The photo before this, of the kitten, announced the new project where I will also be donating a portion of proceeds for any purchases made of ANY of my domestic animals [most are cats, though]
directly through me.

See links in the artist comments here, OR on Profile page, I put up that kitten photo I speak of.

The reason is beside volunteer time, I started to donate some things... but I cannot keep affording it on my own, on that small disabilty...

sigh. So I decided to use my art.

I want to use my art for other things, too.

I don't know about generous, my dear... I don't know. My heart just aches for sad things. :hmm:

I also have heard about the different kind of way it is done where you live.
Philippe has been telling me. Two completely different ways!

Well, I think I didn't pay enough attention, sorry about that.
As I said in my previous reply, I would be happy if some of my pics could be sold for your shelter. You can use any of them, take them from my gallery, I don't even need to be told. But are they good enough?

My heart aches as well, Tea, when animals are mistreated or killed.

Philippe has told you about the SPA in this Province? If the animal is an adult, they keep it two days, then they euthanize it. It is absolutely awful.

Hello there, and thank you! :thanks:

You see why it's so very very hard for me to work here... sigh.

Most of them look at me like this all the time! :faint:

But I live in 900sq. ft. And already we have 6 cats and 1 dog.

And it's always so very hard for me.

I thought by volunteering it would help me by taking care of cats at OTHER places and NOT bringing home more.

NO. Instead, I DO want to bring home more all the time. It's a constant struggle all the time. But I've already rescued 6 cats in 3 years. :ohmygod:

Thanks again for the support.

I wanted to help in a shelter too, but I'm sure I'll have the same problems than yours... I already have 2 cats in a small appartment, and a third one arrives on August... In France, many associations (like the SPA) have problems for cats, and most of the shelters we have are for dogs only... so volonteers get the kitties at home... If I can live in a larger home soon, then maybe I would help a little more !

Such a pretty cat <3 I hope she will find some nice people, who give her a nice new home...
I sometimes help at the local place here, where abanded animals wait for someone, who takes them home, and I know how difficult it is for elder cats to find a new home :( Sweet little kittens, or puppies find nice people quickly (of course thats good as well) but I wish people would give the older animals a chance to have a good life with a loving family even if its just for a short amount of time.

Always when I work there, I wish I could take all the cats and dogs, which live there for a very long time now and will problably stay there till the very end, home with me, but I dont have space for even one cat or dog... and of course Ive got my guinea pigs and gerbils, and dont have enough money for more animals.

I am always happy, when I have time to spend with the cats and dogs who have nobody, its wonderful to see how happy they are, when I play or take a walk with them. Its good to know that I can give them some happy moments in their difficult life. Of course they get cared of good and get all what they need to live, but the people who work there have naturally not enough time to play with every cat and every dog, and give them the attention every single of them need.
Its great that you volunteer at you local shelter, Im sure these cats enjoy time, when you are there, giving them some attention, they need so deeply.
Its good to know, that there are people in this world like you, who have a heart to help creatures, who dont have the happy and sheltered life they deserve. <3

It's good you volunteer when you can. :aww:

And everything you said about it, is true.

People are more apt to adopt kittens and puppies way more often than they will over adult animals, further decreasing the chances of the adult animals and increasing the adult animals time spent in places like this.

Also, you are right about the employees who work there, and while it is "some kind of job" as I've been learning [their paid jobs] they really don't have the time to actually spend WITH the animals in the way that volunteers can and do.

It's different. They change litters and feed, sometimes give meds, and they have to be in and out, and are in a hurry. They HAVE to be. There are a TON of animals!

But volunteers, can as you say, walk dogs, giving them the MUCH NEEDED exercise that they need, for example. We need that at our shelter, more volunteers for that.

I do mostly cat-care, because we have less volunteers for even the cats, and 3 times the cat population.

I spend the time grooming cats, and as far as I've been told I'm the only one who does that. That is very much so hands-on. They don't get that kind of attention, and boy do they get excited and happy for such attention. :hmm: :) sigh...

It's so very many mixed feelings- I'm constantly sad and happy.

So, well, I just do what I can, and it's good there is a you, too! So keep doing what you can, when you can, too!

Tea, this kitty is absolutely wonderful and lovely and precious. And you so skillfully captured those and more on the camera. The eyes are so mangnificent and it has such a perfect pose. I am so glad about what you're doing. Were you planning to do this "save the lost and little kitties" series on the cards? Because I would totally buy some to help out the shelters. Anyways. Lovely photo :]

Hi Sarah! Aww, thank you for such a great, supportive and encouraging comment. :thanks:

Yes, there is a link in my comments here that goes to the kitten photo, or better yet the OTHER LINK that goes to the dog-cat gallery DIRECTLY, actually, which gives more info., and talks about the greeting cards coming out this fall, which ALSO will have the domestic animal images, that will have portion proceeds going to the shelters!

You know, I will also be sending you, in particular, a newsy News Letter. ;)
A News Letter. [Just cause you're lucky and all] And the info is in there, too.

I think you would like them. I'll keep you posted as to when they're actually out. But, these will continue to have links to the cat-dog sub-gallery which also links to my personal website which is also supposed to be out this fall... :faint: And all info. will be there, too. Or dA.

Or I hope I can do it all.

Thanks for your interest.
Of course you ROCK!
