One for Every Kind

For those who know me, and still know me more...

know I have very unique views on motherhood, and what it means to be a mother.

It's less exclusionary, and more of an expansive viewpoint.
I certainly have my reasons, and know when they began to develop. Mothers Day is a very deep and personal time of year for me, as a result.

First of all, I want to wish ALL Moms a VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! And know, that I believe it is a GREAT day to remind us all that moms deserve specialness and celebration all the time, YEAR-ROUND for everything that moms do. All the nurturing and/or inspiring, all of the care-taking and worrying, too etc.

Secondly, it is very important to me to recognize those of NON-biological mom-relations. Every year, since I was a kid, I have thought about my favourite aunt, my mom's younger sister. She never had her "own" biological kids, but I can't tell you in what mom-like ways I've been blessed to have her! She's been so wonderful to me since forever.

And it's nothing I want to get into, but let's face it, I do celebrate my biological mom, despite the fact I've had many difficulties with her over the years, for various reasons. And that's just not easy at all. [I'm sure some of you can relate.] But I'm at a point as an adult, where I've come to accept certain things, and of course I love her.

But I have always wanted to recognize other important females, the nurturers and/or inspirerers in my life. I have had some other very strong female role models, and I am grateful.

One is my beloved grandma, the only grandparent I have left, the one I've been closest to in my life- we've been very close despite always the physical distance. She's been as a great mom to me- AWESOME LADY.

But she's quite elderly now, and has gone through TWO surgeries in the last 4 weeks, because she fell recently, the 2nd surgery one was this past Tuesday... and I've been distressed and worried, but trying to stay hopeful.

I've also been blessed to have a few truly remarkable friends as well as teachers over the years. [Sometimes, one in the same! ] Great strong people, who'd been there for me at times, even if especially now distance separates.

There are plenty of ways to be a mom, or be mom-like, and I applaud those who currently or who have ever taken care of anyone, including any living creatures such at pets, because that is certainly one busy and ongoing commitment of love, as well.

I've met a lot of people right here on dA, who know what I mean with THAT, and therefore a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to ALL of YOU as well! [even if you're a guy, you know what I mean! Or I'll get you on Father's Day, then! ]

And, then, to my Sister-in Law, the Mother of my beloved nieces, two of which are biological nieces and one who is NOT biologically related to me.

Do you think biology matters to me?
By now, if you know me, or even if you've read this,
you know the answer.
She's awesome! All of them are!
And my SIL, is a great Mom to ALL.

And though roses seem traditional, This is dedicated to ALL the kinds of Moms.
