mon cygne noir, me tuant doucement...


When I was a little girl, I took ballet for six years straight, from first grade through about sixth grade, and likely would have gone on, except that my ballet instructor left the dance academy, and no one came to replace her for a long while, and the the dance school fell apart in the interim, while I moved on to other things, losing my momentum for ballet, a commitment which had been strong for so long.

It has to be, if you are a serious dancer, and it seemed, in my opinion to be something quite serious, even at such a young age.

We haven't been to the movie theatre in a very long time, but we just love films, and recently received a coupon for a free "red box" rental, and I decided I wanted to see "Black Swan"

because, I'd been wishing I could for a quite a while.

And I just have to say, it was more intense and emotional to watch it, the whole way through from beginning to end, in every single second, way more than I ever realized it would be!

It's very difficult to explain a lot of the feelings that it brought up for me...

I already had this image, one of the last taken from where we lived before. Actually, I'm not really someone who goes to the zoo- again, it wasn't something I'd done since a child, but thought since it was doubtful I'd be returning to the town I'd grown up in, I'd go...


Well, even before I saw "Black Swan" seeing this most lovely black swan, I was reminded of my days of ballet...

And of course AFTER seeing the movie, it all became quite connected, and I have been reminded of this song, an old favourite... :
