Jean Sweet Sixteen by TeaPhotography Jean Sweet Sixteen by TeaPhotography
This is a photo of my Grandma Jean when she was just sixteen.
So, about 1935.

[ June 23rd, 1919 - March 22, 2012 ]

I just saw her on Feb. 26th, for the last time, when I took that recent trip to Tucson, and not even a month later she passed away...

Read more here:

I have several old photos of my Grandma, actually, and "Jean Sweet Sixteen" is one of my absolute favourites!

We JUST recently got a scanner, from a friend here who was going to sell it at a garage sale, the DAY after my Grandma passed... [life is strange sometimes]
which has made lots of things easier for us, including scanning old photos of Grandma, and other photos, [plus business stuff... ]

I only edited this slightly, to restore it just a bit- cause I wanted to keep it looking as original as possible-- and yet the original is faded somewhat, of course.
I feel I have maintained the balance.

I am fortunate that I have many photos of my grandma through the years, mostly with me, growing up. :aww:

She was there with, and for me, since the beginning, which isn't that easy, when you've never lived physically near by... but a lot of traveling was always involved.
Holidays, events, and taking trips... I'll always be grateful.

She was an amazing Grandmother and a dear, delightful friend.

[ :note: NOTE: Thank you, in advance, for any :+fav:'s I may receive for this image. :thanks: :aww: :rose: I am honoured and grateful that anyone would think well enough to :+fav: it. So thank you from the bottom of my heart  . I understand if you don't have time to comment, but thank you for any kind comments, too. :aww:
It's important to know this NOW, as I may NOT be able to do individual thank-you's for :+fav:'s, or in case I cannot respond to each comment, either. Thanks for understanding. :thanks:
And, if you just came to view, I appreciate that, too.

I'm very tempted to ask you for the honor and priviledge of attempting to paint your grandmas 16 year old portrait in color. Please check my site and let me know if you would consider that.

It was a gift to see her when I did, yes,
just a bit of a surprise when she passed so quickly after I got back...
So I am returning yet again!
I leave tomorrow morning, and so I will "see" you again sometime after the 16th when I can be settled once again..

Thank you so much dear Rezzan...
and it is a pleasure for me-
I didn't want to do so much, and I didn't want to make a journal, but i made a tribute website, and then put 3 photos here on dA...

it's just I don't have any "in real life friends" living anywhere near to me, so it means a lot to me, if I could share with my "dA family and friends"

Thank you for obliging me.

Love that you kept her photo vintage, Tea. Restoring it to an original state is alright with me--I think it's a fitting tribute to her. She was a child of those olden time of photography and looks best in those olden ways of processing, I think

I appreciate that John...
I only did very very little on it, because it was somewhat faded...
so the "colours" or black and white are a little bit more deeper again, which is how it would have been originally.

But I didn't want to do too much at all. I hope I've maintained the balance. :aww:

I agree with you about looking best in those olden ways of processing.

I didn't want to put colour to it or anything. :)

Just my opinion for these originals.

I agree with you. Keeping the vintage look is a great idea. Sure you could give it that hand colored look but I just don't think it would work. My sisters had that done to a few of my mothers childhood photos and I wished they hadn't. On the other hand I did some digital restoration on some photos for my step father and he loved it because all I did was clean them up, remove some scratches and bend lines. It might be a matter of taste, but I prefer the vintage look.
