This series of photos are from June 7th's PRIDE in Santa Cruz, California. I attended it with my friend Laura ~LauraLeePhotography

It was my first official freelance event project as Tea Photography. It was a MOST wonderful experience to say the least! I met another photographer, and exchanged info. and business cards with her, which was very cool. More so, I felt quite successful, with the event, for a couple reasons- the exposure and contacts were better than I thought it was going to be!
Special Note: I am uploading these for Photographical Reasons, as well as for possible Photographers' Interests in work, ideas for types of places to practice, and gain experience. THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THESE PHOTOS a.k.a THIS PHOTOGRAPHED EVENT IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE- NEGATIVE OR DEROGATORY STATEMENTS OF ANY SORT. Thank you for understanding.
Now those are some two very opposite looking facial expressions there! and
Between the girl in front with the cool umbrella and the girl in yellow behind her. I would think having to walk in a long parade in some of those costumes or outfits, would definitely be fast-draining!

I agree with your comment very much so, and therefore, it is why I find it is a GREAT place to practice photography- people expect photos, so it's a given, no worries or problems wondering if it's "okay" and the practice of capturing emotions and humans being themselves is very awesome.
I have a few more to upload. I'm glad you're enjoying them, your support is wonderful.
I hope one day you have the experience of attending a Pride. It is amazing.
They each different in some ways depending on the the place, however the same general feeling is the same.
This was my first Santa Cruz Pride. Portand, Oregon was a nice one, another time. Both of these sort of similar, maybe Portland's even more low-key.
I went to San Francisco's twice before, but I don't think I can ever really handle/deal with that again.
Just... really, more "me" reasons, but I am glad I can say, I've "been there, done than, bought the T-shirt" so-to-speak. But now-a-days, I'm far more mellow... and I sort of have to be, actually...
no don't be sorry, its great to be able to have an intelligent conversation with someone on art i agree completely!Photography is really all about taking what you see, capturing it, and making it beautiful and honest at thesame time. Its like showing the world a slice of real life. (and thats why your such a great photographer, because everything you posted is so geniune )
And thats why the pride parades are so great cuz everyone is so honest and beautiful, but above all, there happy.
I've always wanted to visit Portland, i'll have to go during the parade next year. Sorry, this is gonna sound really dumb, but is Santa Cruz in CA or NM? Either way, these pictures are great, and it looks like you had a blast.
OMG, i've heard San Fran's is absolutly insane. What was iit like?
In your first paragraph, you have NO idea, how much what you said, could possibly mean to me... really. sigh..
Second paragraph... yes happy. It's interesting, because exactly what you said.. it's a place you can go to practice capturing great honest and genuine expressions of human emotion, and at the SAME time, what's amazing about being able to capture THIS TYPE of genuine expression/emotion, is that it's actually HAPPY emotions... a bit rarer to find on a more daily basis, to be truthful, ya know?
EXCELLENT point that you made, thank YOU!
You would LOVE Portland, Oregon!
As much as you would LOVE Santa Cruz, California.
Santa Cruz is about an hour south of San Fran.
I love BOTH a lot. I love tons closer to Santa Cruz though, and am tons more familiar, and it's more my home.
But I've been to Portland probably 20 times all together.
What is San Fran's PRIDES like? What you said, insane.
Really, just too much for me, too huge... the parade is like 5 hours long, a million miles long, and if you're lucky you can see it with the huge crowds... sheesh. Just sooooo many people, and just 10x more wilder and crazier, and yeah...
Hey ya know for fun, you can google the different Prides, Just Google San Francisco Pride, Santa Cruz Pride, Portland Pride,
and some others that might be cool, that I've often wondered about but not been to, Seattle Pride, New York City Pride.
Where are you from, well maybe just state, if you don't want to tell me. They may be a Pride near you!
I KNOW! Its just getting harder to capture geniune happiness is hard, partly because people can be so reserved, and partly because you have to be descrete about taking pics of strangers
Ok, i will!!! Thanks for all this great information! Heehe, i think i'll start of with one a little less intense than san fran!! lol, i dont think i could handle it either!! Oh, Seattle would be a great one to go to, theres some much art and creativity there anyway, add that to a Pride parade...wow that would be cool!!! right now Portland, New York, and Santa Cruz are on the top of my list.
I'm from Detroit, Michigan (just a suburb outside it, not in the actual city, but its apperently "Detroit") I haven't heard of any pride parades in the City itself (probably cuz people are too afraid to go down there! ) but i haven't looked all that hard. There have to be SOME, somewhere right?
