Celebrating the Mother in ALL of Us

Description

Do you LOVE? Do you NURTURE? DO you INSPIRE?

Just think about it.

1. I would like to dedicate this to my biological Mother. Her name is MEL or MELLY. I often call her Mup, or just Mom.
I was her first of two children, and she had a very difficult time in childbirth with each of us. She was in labour for 72 hours with me; they even sent her home once, only to be rushed back, just to end up waiting longer... it was apparently extremely stressful on both of our systems.

It wasn't much better with my brother only 14 months later, when she was in labour with him for 48 hours.

There were a lot of difficulties about my childhood that I did not like, but I have tried to come to terms with them, since now I am an adult. I try to focus on the good things, and there were some.
My favourite was the fact that, we traveled a lot as a family, and those were the best times. We didn't go abroad, but went many places in the continental USA, also Hawaii at that time, (Alaska, since) and many times to Canada & Mexico-

But it was enough to give me the "travel bug" forever... and so in my 20's, I am happy that I had and TOOK the opportunity then, to travel abroad "shoe-string budget style!" to many different countries. And thank goodness, because life can change fast, and you don't know when... my health was getting worse even back then, my financial status took it's first turn for the worse, (it's taken many since, without recovery- , due to my medical problems...)

... and it soon became inevitable, that I was not medically able to travel in this way, for the unforeseeable future- not without a miracle. Therefore I learned to ADORE day trips, and my imagination grew and grew, and it was already pretty darn good! :XD:

My mom, was very nurturing (still is from super far, on phone) and also instilled the foundation for MANY of the interests I have today- they just grew exponentially, with experience and time! I will always be appreciative and grateful. It is also wonderful that we've grown through our issues, and we are now at our best ever in our relationship! I could not be more grateful for this

2. I also would like to dedicate this to my Mum from dA. I'm a good part English, my last name is English, I've traveled England... and I wanted something special to call her by to distinguish her. And because she is AWESOME, as in DENYSE awesome43 she allowed me to call her MUM! ;)

I LOVE that you can choose your family. The concept of this, became obvious and super important to me at a very significant time in my life... So, the concept of "family" is a deep and special one.

And she may remember better, the particulars of how it all came about, but I *do* remember the feeling, feeling of connecting in that particular way. I have felt many great connections here on dA, no doubt, excellent friendships, sisters, brothers, a couple of nieces, but it was clear that her compassion was driven from the perspective of a mother, and it was very nice, indeed. It was a mother-daughter connection. Denyse, has been such a loving Mum, always reaching out, understanding when I can't reach back right away- but because she's SUCH a STRONG person, just knowing she's always there is amazing. She's always telling me not to give up hope, in a mum-like way.

It's interesting because we do live closer together, than I live to most anyone else on dA, yet it still feels just out of reach! But in comparison to everyone else, we really do! I so wish we could make meeting happen somehow!

3. I would also like to dedicate this to my local adopted mom Stormy, whose real name is Stormy, who I call Stormy or Mom. :aww:  She was the first person we even made friends with, when we moved here five years ago, and we hit it off, like *that*.   We were like magnets, or a bug drawn to light. (getting sleepy here...  ;) )
Her home has so many similarly uniquely decorated items! We couldn't believe it.

But the main thing, is that as time went and she really got to know me, she decided to adopt me as her daughter, about 3 years ago, committed to doing what she could to help me with my medical issues. Getting info. about doctors, making calls, driving for me... all of this is still a bit awkward and I still don't always tell her when I need help, but as we are so far away from family, and in-person friends, we've just started to try a bit more, since there's a lot more now that's needing to be done. ugh.

Big example, she lived at our house, took care of it and ALL of our rescue kitties and doggies the week we had to leave 10 hours away for my first procedure out of the kindness of her heart. :faint:
You can't imagine how hard this job would be. It is difficult enough for me on a daily basis!

She's a wonderful woman, who dreamed that I would meet her biological daughter one day, so that we would become "sisters" - well that recently happened at her 70th birthday party. I did hit it off with her daughter. She's a very cool person.

If you've ever loved, nurtured, & inspired another living being, be they human- a child, an older person in assisted living, an abused human or animal, a beloved pet family-member, a pet waiting to BE part of a family AT a shelter, any who are sick...
Then, I celebrate the Mother in You.
